Completion Date:
2000
Construction Type:
Natural regeneration technologies (refugia, biotopes)

Janome Beach at Aquamarine Fukushima is the world’s largest touch pool, with an area of 4,500 m2, where visitors can go barefoot and interact with living creatures. Next to Janome Beach is BIOBIO Kappa no Sato, a freshwater biotope that recreates the riparian environment of a village. Visitors can enter the creek, touch killifish and other fish, and observe them up close.
These two facilities at Aquamarine Fukushima comprehensively reproduce the “saltwater and freshwater” waterside environment, creating a safe environment in which visitors can interact with living creatures.
