Here is a new lifestyle of rental housing with one plot of vegetable garden per unit.

CULUMU means "to wrap. CULUMU Hamadayama is a low-rise, sturdy building with an impressive courtyard that wraps around the building. It is a new style of rental housing with a vegetable garden per unit. In addition to the rooftop vegetable garden, Hakone Ueki is helping to create a modern living environment through wall greening.

Project Summary

Kulm Hamadayama is a renovated rental housing complex with three common spaces (courtyard, rooftop vegetable garden, and common room). We propose a "connected lifestyle" through the use of the common spaces. We practice total design of "community lifestyle" from the viewpoints of planning, design, and operation management.

Our Approach

Respecting the design concept of the facility, we created a living environment through wall greening, etc. Mesh cages (wire mesh) and wires, which are cost-effective and easy to maintain, are used in the green spaces. The mesh baskets are also used as benches and other forms that are integrated with the greening space.

Point

Not only living there, but also living in the rooftop vegetable garden and courtyard, the residents are connected to each other. The building was awarded the Good Design Award in 2009.
